The Nexus7 Arrives!

After a very long adventure involving more than 40 miles of travel and stops at two Sam’s Club Stores the Nexus7 acquisition is completed!

This if my fourth tablet. I’ve had the original iPad, the Motorola Xoom, and the Transformer Prime.  I have never considered purchasing a 7″ tablet. Frankly I’ve always wanted a larger screen and the smaller tablets just didn’t seem to fit my needs.

I’m happy to say that I like the smaller Nexus7  just fine. It is perfect for personal entertainment which is exactly what it is aimed at.  I will still use my Transformer Prime for some tasks especially those that require a lot of typing. But for reading, watching online video content or quick web browsing I’ll definitely be using my Nexus7.  It fits perfectly in one hand and is easy to use while reading in bed or on the couch.

I expected to find the display too small for watching video but the bright high resolution screen works just fine. I even read the latest issue of Batman without any issues at all.

The device seems to be made of good quality materials and the performance is very good. Couple that with a very polished version of Android in 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and you have a very powerful device with a good form factor that delivers the content it was designed to deliver. I am very happy with it so far. Also walking and doing a Google+ Hangout with it is pretty sweet though my wife said I was making her dizzy.

I am, at heart, a software developer though I am currently managing a small Information Technology department for a mid sized company located in my hometown of Jacksonville, FL. When I am not playing with the latest smart-phone or trying to become inspired to write code I read almost anything I can get my hands on from Pulp Era adventures to biographies of world leaders and everything in between.
