Yesterday my new Droid Bionic arrived at my office earlier than I expected. Usually my luck with waiting on packages is that they arrive at the last possible moment putting me though hours of agony and my Web browser through hours of refreshing the tracking page. Not this time, the phone showed up at 9am before I even started thinking about it.
I quickly unboxed the device and tried to set it up only to discover I didn’t have the Sim card installed. Frantically I searched the box for the card with no success. Just before I got to full panic mode, I found it hiding with the quick start guide where I was sure to never look for it!
That crisis averted, I thought I was home free but the universe wasn’t quite through screwing with me yet. The activation processes kept failing. I finally decided to go Online and do it there. This meant realizing I needed a security code that I didn’t remember. After messaging my wife and then remembering she was incomunicado due to work, I recalled where to find the code. That online processes didn’t seem to work either and I was dialing support when the phone gave up its game of torture and activated. Finally the fun could begin.
This blog entry is mostly about the arrival so I won’t go intro a lot of detail about the device here but, so far it its sleek and fast and easy to use so I am happy with it. The camera software is giving me some trouble, but I am working through that. More on the phone in later installments.
