Academy Award Challenge Wrap-up

So it has been another long and eventful year. Way back in March I made a challenge to myself to watch and review the ten pictures nominated for Best Picture of 2009. This turned out to be more challenging than I had thought because the year was interupted twice for long periods while my wife and I were apart while she cared for her dying parents in Michigan. It took nearly all year but we finally managed to get through them all. I would probably say that of all the pictures listed below “The Blind Side” is apparently our favorite, we have seen it four or five times now.

Challenge Status:

Avatar – Saw in the theater 3/13/2010
The Blind Side – Watched on Amazon Unbox 4/29/2010
District 9 – Watched on Netflix 7/03/2010
An Education – Watched on Amazon Unboxed 7/05/2010
The Hurt Locker – Watched on Amazon Unbox 3/14/2010
Inglorious Basterds – Watched on Amazon Unbox 7/03/2010
Precious – Watched on Amazon Unbox 11/6/2010
A Serious Man – Watched on Amazon Unbox 3/27/2010
Up – Watched on DVD in November 2010.
Up in the Air – Watched via DVD on 7/02/2010

There you go. I wish I could say that my record for watching films that will be nominated this year is better but it isn’t. We’ve seen only a couple of films in the theater this year due to various reasons. But I guess that gives me something to shoot for next year.
